Over 30 years of Drumming
Tours, Live Performances, Studio Sessions
Jimmy Mouton (drums) has been touring since the age of 16. Born and raised in the heart of the bayou country, he was molded by the sights and sounds of the great South-Louisiana culture, witness to a talent-rich environment that has produced genre-defining artists like Sonny Landreth, Allen Toussaint, Michael Doucet & BeauSoleil, and Buckwheat Zydeco. Combined with the influence of the Jazz, Second-line and Funk sounds of Creole New Orleans that produced the Meters, Neville Brothers, Dr. John and Professor Longhair, Mouton developed a unique style and approach that would thrust him into the music scene as one of the most versatile and in-demand drummers available. His performance bio presents a who’s-who of amazing musicians spreading across multiple genres of music.
He has approached all musical situations with a style, sound and feel like no other… a result of a fortunate environment of diverse cultures, influences and experience. But his true passion for drumming lies in the feel and rhythms of Blues, Zydeco and Country music. He has played with some of Country’s best musicians, and working with Georgia-based Country band Against the Grain (House Band – Cowboys in Kennesaw, GA; James David Carter RCA project), found himself on the same bill opening for Gary Allan, Dwight Yoakum, Dierks Bently, Brad Paisley, Joe Nichols, Sara Evans, Tracey Lawrence and more. In the Blues / Southern Rock / Zyedeco arenas, he has played with the likes of Dan Toler, Bruce Waibel, Chaz Trippy and Jon Street (The Gregg Allman Band), Buckweat Zydeco, Rockin’ Doopsie, Marcia Ball, Aanson Funderburg, Wendy Rich and more. The large stage and big show are no stranger to Mouton, nor are the small stage and intimate venue. He continues to perform regularly on stages across the country and remains blessed to share the stage with some of the greatest musicians entertaining masses across the globe.
